Here we have May's Car of the Month The superb Toyota GR Yaris provided bt Ken Harland. In Ken's own words:
"Passing my driving test in the late 80’s I lusted after cars out of my budget, fast forward 40 years with a dream car list including, Lancia HF Integral, Ford RS200 & Audi Quattro but ended up with Triumph Spitfire MKIII, Which I really enjoyed and loved the classic scene.
Then Toyota announced the launch of the GR Yaris at a price far below it’s worth for a FIA homologation Special. I cannot tell you how excited I was to place my order & luckily did not have too long to wait for my Circuit Pack in Scarlett Flare, with a 1.6 L 3 cylinder engine, producing 257 bhp making it the most powerful in production, 4WD with torsion differentials, Aluminium body panels & forged carbon roof weighing in at 1280 kg.
The outcome is a car that handles and performs like no other in its class.
I have owned this car for 2 & a half years and can honestly say it’s more smiles for miles than any other car I have owned.
Just a few modifications to make it my own, Sparco DRS wheels in bronze, & the compulsory mud flaps to add to the rally stance, There are tuned modified cars producing well over 500 bhp but for me the standard 257 was enough to get me into trouble with the law."
